Hostel Hopper: Balengku Homestay Gili Air

Pool days a Balengku Gili Air

We’ve just checked out after 4 nights here at Balengku. Our stay on Gili Air has been extended by 2 days as Ben’s been unwell so we haven’t really seen the island. But unfortunately Balengku was fully booked so we’re off to somewhere new!

On paper Balengku has everything and more that you need for a great stay. Air conditioning. Big doubles with mosquito nets. Indoor/outdoor style bathroom. Free wifi. Free breakfast. 5 mins to the beach. AND a pool. What more could you want? A private terrace? Sure you got it. In short, we loved it here.

Our bungalow at Balengku

All this for IDR 277,500 per night (~£17). Don’t get me wrong for a solo traveller Balengku could be a bit spenny. But travelling as a couple this price isn’t much different to 2 beds in a dorm, yassss.

Pros
Pool with lots of sun loungers
Spacious, clean rooms with comfy beds
Breakfast served on your private terrace – a lovely desk space for chilling out/blogging

Our spacious terrace at Balengku

Cons
Quite far from the harbour – be prepared to walk 20 mins with your backpack. You can of course hop on the horse and carts but I just feel for the horses
Books up fast – if you’re going to extend your stay do so sooner rather than later

Cosy beds at Balengku
