24 Hours in Charlotte

24 Hours in Charlotte

Many people rave about the great American road trip. In fact, I can’t wait to head stateside to take a road trip in the near future. My only problem is squeezing in all the activities on offer! As a serial planner, I’ve already researched each destination and planned my itinerary. So here’s what I’m going to do with my 24 hours in Charlotte.

Wake Up

Roll into town early to grab a coffee from Hex Coffee Espresso Bar. The locals rave about the waffles, so be sure to see what the hype is about. After coffee, head over to Freedom Park. The beautiful park is a great place to spend a few hours strolling around. Head to the pond and feed the ducks or take a seat and people-watch to your heart’s content.

Good Afternoon

Grab a local’s guide to Charlotte to find a sweet spot for a cheap lunch. From sandwiches to fried food, Charlotte has what you need to fuel the rest of your day. You’ll find me at Brook’s Sandwich House chowing down on a mountain of chili cheese fries. After lunch, it’s time to explore the city’s many museums. Educate yourself on the art scene at the Mint Museum and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. If art isn’t your thing, head to NASCAR Hall of Fame or Discovery Place.

Dinner Time

It’s time to treat yourself. Splash out on a meal at The Fig Tree Restaurant, and be sure to make a reservation in advance. You’ll be spoilt for choice with a delicious menu. I’ll certainly be finishing with the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut French Silk Torte. With a name like that, it’s got to taste just divine.

Post-dinner drinks are non-negotiable. Head to 204 North to drink your way through the mouth-watering cocktail menu. If you’re visiting over the weekend, you’re in luck. This spot offers $3 beers on Friday and Saturday nights. I’ll drink to that!

Good Night

Try not to stay out too late. Rooms at The Ivey’s Hotel are lustworthy. If you’re in town for a special occasion, it’s well worth splashing the cash on a Balcony Suite. Enjoy the hotel’s many amenities, including the 24-hour fitness centre and Library Lounge.

If you aren’t ready to call it a night just yet, check out Sophia’s Lounge within The Ivey’s Hotel. Enjoy a nightcap in style and up your Instagram game, as this bar screams luxury. From the ornate chandeliers to the high bar stools, Sophia’s Lounge provides a picture-perfect backdrop for end-of-the-night drinks.

If you wake with a sore head, don’t fret. Order in room service from 5Church Restaurant and ease yourself out of bed. The brave can venture out to the restaurant and grab brunch with a glass of bubbly.

After this jam-packed 24 hours, you’ll probably need another holiday to recover. Whether you’re looking for culture, fine dining, or a wild weekend, Charlotte has it all. Keep an eye on the blog for more travel ideas and let me know how you would spend your 24 hours in Charlotte.
